My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts, and they are looking to take on a Machinist, on a permanent basis, in the Portsmouth area.
The Machinist will ideally have the following attributes:
- Time served Engineer (NVQ/ Apprenticeship/ City & Guilds qualification ideally)
- Ideally 2 years’ experience or more in a similar engineering manufacturing / machine shop environment
- Experience of working with CNC, milling, turning or manual grinding
- Experience of working with Delcam programming or 5 axis machining would be desirable but not essential
- Be able to work with MS Office
- Good communication skills
- Have the ability to read/ interpret engineering drawings
- The ability to work well alone as well as part of a team
The Machinist role will involve:
- Being responsible for the machining of one off engineering components
- Working to the right standards and specifications
- Interpreting engineering drawings
- Writing CNC machining programs (turning/ milling/ grinding)
- Helping to train apprentices or less experienced team members
- Assisting with other general manufacturing activities
- Helping to drive the companies Continuous Improvement program
- Maintaining high standards
