LOCATION- Portsmouth

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £25,000- £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts, and they are looking to take on a Machinist, on a permanent basis, in the Portsmouth area.

The Machinist will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Time served Engineer (NVQ/ Apprenticeship/ City & Guilds qualification ideally)
  • Ideally 2 years’ experience or more in a similar engineering manufacturing / machine shop environment
  • Experience of working with CNC, milling, turning or manual grinding
  • Experience of working with Delcam programming or 5 axis machining would be desirable but not essential
  • Be able to work with MS Office
  • Good communication skills
  • Have the ability to read/ interpret engineering drawings
  • The ability to work well alone as well as part of a team

The Machinist role will involve:

  • Being responsible for the machining of one off engineering components
  • Working to the right standards and specifications
  • Interpreting engineering drawings
  • Writing CNC machining programs (turning/ milling/ grinding)
  • Helping to train apprentices or less experienced team members
  • Assisting with other general manufacturing activities
  • Helping to drive the companies Continuous Improvement program
  • Maintaining high standards
