An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established and respected Tier 1 main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK.

This role is based in St Albans, working within a collaborative and forward-thinking pre-construction team that plays a key role in securing major frameworks and high-value tenders across sectors such as water, utilities, highways, tunnelling, and energy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to identify project requirements and risks.
  • Engage with supply chain partners to source quotations and evaluate pricing options.
  • Develop pricing strategies in collaboration with commercial and operational teams.
  • Contribute to bid submissions and presentations.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, pricing models, and tender records.
  • Support value engineering and risk management processes throughout the tender stage.

About You:

  • Experience in an estimating role within civil engineering, infrastructure, or utilities.
  • Knowledge of groundworks, drainage, pipelines, concrete structures, or similar disciplines.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and estimating tools such as Causeway or similar.
  • Commercially aware with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A proactive team player who thrives under deadline pressure.
