A unique opportunity has arisen for a Commissioning Electrician to join a market-leading pump rental solutions company. This role will cover the South West, supporting projects across the North West from the Liverpool branch.
This position is crucial in ensuring the successful commissioning and functionality testing of electrical pumping systems.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical installations, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results within safety and project deadlines.
Key Duties & Responsibilities- Complete commissioning activities for pump system installations, including level controllers, flow meters, inverters, control valves, generators, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Accurately document commissioning procedures, system configurations, and parameters for internal reports and future project reference.
- Perform functional testing of pumping systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with manufacturer and company specifications.
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve installation issues, providing training where necessary to prevent repeat errors.
- Provide comprehensive handovers to customers, including system operation training, documentation, and commissioning packs.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and control system issues to meet customer requirements and project objectives.
- Proven experience in electrical commissioning, with a strong understanding of motors, controllers, instrumentation, and pumping systems.
- Skilled in interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings, with the ability to translate complex technical information into practical solutions.
- Practical experience working with 3-phase systems, including the installation and commissioning of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems efficiently and effectively.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations, including BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), BS EN 60204 (Safety of Machinery – Electrical Equipment), and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Experience conducting inspection, testing, and certification of electrical systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, customers, and internal stakeholders, including the ability to clearly document commissioning reports and technical findings.
- Demonstrable experience working with pumping systems and applying energy-efficient practices in system design, installation, and commissioning.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks while working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Strong self-management and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.
- C&G 2382 - 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification.
- C&G 2391 - Inspection, Testing & Certification qualification.
- JIB Registered (ECS Gold Card Holder).
- Full UK Driving Licence. (Max 6 points)
