Nurse Seekers are proud to be recruiting for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RGN or RSCN) to provide care for a 4-year-old child with cerebral palsy in their home in Sheffield. This role involves delivering high-quality care in a comfortable and familiar environment, ensuring the child’s needs are met with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide complex airway management, including deep suctioning, ventilation machine management, and use of a cough assist machine.
- Administer and manage gastrostomy feeds and ensure proper site care.
- Perform urethral catheterisation (both intermittent and indwelling).
- Follow bowel care regimes, monitor for potential issues, and act promptly when needed.
- Administer complex medication via gastrostomy as per care plans.
- Maintain excellent communication with the child, family, and team members.
- Supervise and support junior staff, providing guidance and leadership when necessary.
- Recognise and manage seizures, including the administration of rescue medication as outlined in the care plan.
- Use and support the child with moving and handling equipment, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience working with children who have complex needs, including cerebral palsy.
- Confidence and competence in complex care tasks, including airway management, gastrostomy care, and catheterisation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both the child and their family.
- Experience in seizure management and handling specialist equipment for daily living activities.
