The predicted salary is between 43000 - 77000 £ per year.
The role is for a Property & Casualty Package Underwriter, focussed on new business development in the upper SME/lower middle-market segment. You would be responsible for new business underwriting and trading with broker partners from across the UK, including pipelining, quoting, negotiating and writing new P&C package business.
You will be expected to have property and casualty technical experience, knowledge and aptitude to establish underwriting authority and exercise this within our client’s technical guidelines and best practices. You will also be expected to have passion, skill and a track record for new business development in the upper SME/lower middle-market segment. You will be measured against key new business metrics and goals.
Positive engagement and collaboration with our broker partners, underwriting management, sales and distribution and cross-line colleagues would be key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities- Underwriting, quoting and converting new P&C package business in the lower middle-market segment, in-line with targets and the overall business plan.
- Regular engagement with our producers and BDMs to develop and execute on a pipeline of opportunities.
- Effective trading behaviours, negotiation and engagement to successfully close new opportunities.
- Consistently providing a high level of underwriting service and speed of response to our brokers.
- Collaborating with sales and distribution, other lines of business, risk engineering, operations and underwriting management.
- Keeping accurate underwriting records and data.
- Representing and promoting our client to brokers and building strong relationships with key producers.
- Solid experience in property and casualty underwriting environment.
- A track record and reputation as a dynamic new business development underwriter.
- Knowledge and experience in the upper SME / lower middle-market insurance segment.
- Results driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative.
- Ability to adjust to shifting priorities and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication.
- Commitment to a high level of underwriting service and speed of response.
- A-Levels or higher, with a degree or ACII (or progress towards these) preferred but not essential.
