The Role
As a Senior BI Developer, you'll act as a strategic partner to the business—especially senior leaders in Commercial Finance, Supply Chain, Product, and Digital—by delivering critical insights that drive performance. You'll take ownership of BI projects from concept to delivery, champion best practices, and support the development of mid-level team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of end-to-end BI solution delivery, from requirements gathering to dashboard deployment and stakeholder sign-off.
- Collaborate closely with senior business stakeholders to define KPIs, identify data needs, and build tailored reports that influence strategic decisions.
- Translate complex business questions into clear, insightful data visualizations and dashboards.
- Mentor and support mid-level BI developers, helping them grow technically and professionally.
- Ensure scalability, maintainability, and documentation of BI solutions to support team standards.
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, and data scientists to improve data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.
- Continuously improve BI processes and tools, advocating for automation, optimization, and user-centric design.
- Actively contribute to team rituals (code reviews, planning, retrospectives) and share knowledge to strengthen team capability.
- Support project tracking and sprint planning using JIRA and other agile tools.
Key requirements:
Must-Have:
- 5+ years of experience in a BI or data analytics role, with a proven track record of delivering business impact.
- Advanced SQL expertise and experience working with complex data models and large datasets.
- Strong experience with BI tools (Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, or similar), with the ability to create polished, user-friendly dashboards.
- Proven experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Ability to lead projects independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in agile environments, including sprint planning, story estimation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with Finance and/or Retail data domains.
- Deep knowledge of Metabase.
- Experience in mentoring or leading junior/mid-level BI developers.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and data modeling best practices.
