Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the product and process quality of our components and systems, working closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to drive continuous improvement and compliance consistent with automotive/battery industry quality standards, and applicable customer specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the transition of a ISO 9001 facility to full IATF 16949 implementation.
  • Driving compliance and value add within the site Business Management System (BMS) that supports the continuous improvement of site performance in line with business and customer requirements.
  • Verifies procedures, specifications and ensures their effective implementation and status in line with continuous improvement through rigorous process, product and system audits.
  • Coordinate the full supply chain to ensure applicable quality requirements and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions are effective and quantifiable.
  • Investigate customer complaints and non-conformities, leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions, in line with industry based disciplined problem solving techniques (8D).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analysing data, identifying trends, and implementing process improvements to reduce defects and increase process efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing, to ensure quality objectives are met throughout the product development process.
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics and reports, providing regular updates to management on quality performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the production team, ensuring that quality standards are maintained during the manufacturing product and process design and development.
  • Support and deliver training and competency based sessions for employees on quality procedures, standards, and core tools.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in a Tier 1 supplier environment.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and 8D problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of automotive or battery industry manufacturing processes and quality processes.
  • IATF Lead Auditor certified with experience conducting audit cycles and working with suppliers to ensure quality performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and experience with quality management software.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or other relevant certifications are desirable.
