Irwin and Colton has been engaged by a high profile Tier 1 contractor which turnover circa £650m to recruit a Head of Health, Safety and Environment. The role is focused on helping to ensure the safe delivery of major works projects within the utilities sector. The organisation has an excellent track record across health and safety and this role is critical to this continued success.

Responsibilities for the Head of Health, Safety and Environment will include:

  • Engaging with senior managers, clients and external stakeholders ensuring responsibilities are clear and answering technical health and safety related enquiries
  • Assessing upcoming challenges and ensuring health and safety solutions are in place
  • Constantly assessing opportunities for health and safety improvement
  • Leading on major health and safety incident investigations to identify root cause and making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence

The successful Head of Health, Safety and Environment candidate will have:

  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role ideally within construction, utilities, civil engineering or a related industry
  • Experience in influencing, engaging and coaching senior management and engaging with site level operations
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) - desirable
  • A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance, and regulations
