Valere Capital has an opportunity for a professional with experience of report writing and data analysis in the financial services sector to work alongside the partners and experts. We are looking for a detail-oriented, entrepreneurial and efficiency focused individual who can be responsible for supporting expert witnesses in creating accurate and compliant reports covering industry subject matters (mostly in finance and commodities) in the context of legal proceedings. This role requires the individual to have an understanding of the financial sector along with exceptional writing skills, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel.
Key Responsibilities
- Review expert reports drafted by industry experts, with a view to achieving high-quality written material;
- Proofreading reports for sense, consistency, and clarity; adding cross-references, definitions and footnotes; creating Word tables and embedding Excel charts; creating captions, preparing and managing exhibits, checking formatting and typographical errors;
- Data analysis: produce and analyse large data sets (primarily Excel-based, but other databases could be used), including historical security prices, pricing models, and revenue forecasts; a good knowledge of the Bloomberg terminal is important.
- Work with and help experts with drafting (in particular those experts who are not native English speakers);
- Writing compelling copy that is clear, concise and easily understood by a layperson;
- Case Management – including organisation and tracking case files.
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of terminology and practices in the financial markets in general;
- Previous experience producing reports;
- Flexibility to adjust hours to meet operating needs;
- Strong knowledge of Word and Excel; good knowledge of Bloomberg.
- The ability to communicate clearly in French and/or German would be a bonus but not essential.

- Experience in the financial markets (any asset class, either in the context of trading, structuring, research, analytics, journalism or legal work);
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner;
- Excellent attention to detail, with a proven ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and gaps in documentation;
- Good time management skills and the ability to cope with tight deadlines, work flexibly and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Experience of using computerised databases/ record management systems, and very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and the Bloomberg terminal;
- Ability to deal with confidential situations with tact, diplomacy and discretion;
- Inspires confidence by consistently delivering quality work;
- Enthusiastic team player with the ability to collaborate.
