We are looking for a Laboratory Engineer, reporting to the laboratory lead in Wrexham.

We count on you for:

  • Provide technical leadership and support to the laboratories.
  • Ensure existing laboratory processes are under control via respective process metrics.
  • Participate in safety leadership activities.
  • Facilitate and lead continuous improvement activities by using lean and various engagement tools.
  • Maintain, develop and update all control documents.
  • Ensure laboratory qualifications are maintained in accordance with AS9100, NADCAP and customer mandated programs such as EXOVA PTP.
  • Develop and maintain the annual MSE (Measurement System Evaluation) program providing robust corrective actions when required.
  • Fill in as relief for the Laboratory Unit Area Leader as needed.
  • Liaise with relevant counterparts within the business unit to implement new capital projects in the laboratory unit.

You will bring:

  • The ideal candidates will be flexible – working hours may, at times require a level of flexibility.
  • Engineering or Material Science degree required.
  • Working experience in a laboratory environment required (composites laboratory experience would be advantageous).
  • Sound decision making abilities even in complex and demanding situations.
  • Proactive attitude towards problem solving and process improvement.
  • Exposure/experience of HPLC, DSC, DMA, FTIR, Viscosity (Rheometric and cone/plate) and mechanical test frames advantageous, but full training will be provided.
  • Working knowledge of MSE and problem-solving tools.
  • Experience in statistical analysis essential (Use of JMP/Minitab etc).
  • High attention to detail & self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally on different hierarchical levels.
  • Experience in using LIMS, SAP and various other PC based systems.
