We have partnered with a Tier-1 Asset Manager looking to hire a Multi-Asset Strategist to join their Investment Strategy team in London. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 yearsβ experience as a strategist, ideally with a strong background in macro fixed income/rates/fx, as well as the ability to think within a multi-asset context and generate investment ideas and asset allocation views across the global fixed income & FX universe.
The primary focus of this role will be generating trade ideas (both directional and relative value) and contributing to research on tactical and strategic asset allocation. The strategist will develop research themes, communicate insights to portfolio managers, and support investment decision-making. The role also involves producing white papers, preparing client presentations, and, when required, participating in media engagements.
This role sits on a highly respected investment strategy team that works closely with several different portfolio management teams, and the role provides an opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by a Chief Strategist who is highly respected in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and present trade ideas (both directional and RV) related to macro fixed income and FX strategy within a multi-asset framework
- Conduct research to support tactical (6-month), strategic (1+ year), and secular (5-year) investment outlooks, focusing on a 6-12 month time horizon
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and investment teams across asset classes, including Multi-Asset, Fixed Income, Emerging Market Debt, Global Equities, and Thematic Equities
- Contribute to the monthly tactical allocation view and support adjustments to the asset allocation strategy as needed
- Identify new research themes based on market developments or feedback from the investment committee and portfolio managers
- Build and maintain relationships with fund management teams, providing timely updates on strategic insights and trade ideas
- Produce white papers and market commentary, contributing to the team's research output
- Participate in client presentations and external communications when required
- Assist the Head of Strategy with client materials and occasionally present research findings
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- 5 to 7 years of experience in macro fixed income and FX strategy, preferably from a sell-side background, though buy-side experience will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of macroeconomic factors and the interactions between major asset classes, particularly fixed income and FX, within a multi-asset context.
- Ability to cover a broad range of fixed income topics, including: G10 and emerging market bonds (local currency, hard currency, corporates)
- U.S. and European high-yield and investment-grade credit from a strategy perspective
- FX as a key component within fixed income strategy
- Understanding of private credit/private assets from a macro perspective is beneficial but not essential
- Proven ability to generate innovative trade ideas (both directional and RV) across macro asset classes
- Ability to present complex investment insights to both internal stakeholders and external clients
- MSc level degree or higher in a financial discipline is preferred; CFA certification is advantageous
- Strong analytical and research skills with a structured approach to investment strategy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and portfolio managers
- Ability to manage and prioritize research tasks, maintaining high standards of accuracy and relevance
- Willingness to contribute to team discussions and collaborate on research initiatives
