Role responsibilities
- The Project Manager role will deliver sustainable transport related projects in line with Welsh Government transport policy and strategy, supporting the Active Travel Delivery Programme Lead.
- Deliver a range of sustainable transport projects, by applying robust project lifecycle methodologies (such as APM or PRINCE2) including, implementing the project plan, schedule of all tasks, key milestones and resource management to ensure these are completed safely to time, cost and quality.
- Provide a professional and effective project management service, including project governance, reporting, technical working groups and executive steering groups, in accordance with the required processes and timelines to ensure the projects are aligned to WelTAG, the Transport for Wales (TfW) Plan of Works Stage Gate processes and delivered to cost and quality.
- Manage the project budget by liaising with the appropriate Finance Business Partner and the Programme Lead, escalating any variances where required to ensure costs remain within the agreed budget.
- Manage and lead project teams by collaborating with internal colleagues and external contractors, Local Authorities, stakeholders and supply chain to ensure projects meet delivery outcomes.
Who we're looking for
- Degree in a relevant subject, such as Business, Transport Planning, Geography Engineering (or similar) or demonstrable equivalent work experience.
- Hold, or be working towards, a Project Management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2.
- Previous experience of working on sustainable transport related projects.
- Previous experience of working and engaging with internal and external stakeholders, such as public sector and/or government officials at local, regional or national levels.
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
