Morson are recruiting for a Technical Author based in Warton, near Preston, on site for 2-3 days a week for a leading Aerospace and Defence manufacturers. This is a 12 month contract although likely to be long-term. The primary purpose of the role is to generate and maintain Flight Approved Data in line with departmental processes, Service Level Agreements and customer specifications. You will be responsible for the research, interpretation and origination of new and amended textual data and images for inclusion in the delivered of the RSAF ON/OFF aircraft technical publication suite, covering in-service operation and maintenance activities. Additional responsibilities may include participation with verification of the product and assistance with estimating for the effects of modifications or new installations within the suite of technical data. The position is a hybrid role with an expectation of attending the office when required to meet the business needs. Experience required: Proficient at verbal and written or verbal and illustrative communication, with the ability to interact with Customers, Suppliers and Engineering/Support staff at all levels. Effective communication skills. Good organisation skills to control concurrent activities for multiple customers. Proficient in the use of IT systems and standard office-style applications. Desirable Experience of modern electronic production tool-sets, including Standard Generalised Mark-up Language. An excellent working knowledge of engineering principles. 10 years’ experience in an aerospace engineering environment. WORKING HOURS – 5 days p/wk (Mon-Fri) around relevant site span hours (06.30hrs – 19:00hrs Mon – Thurs, 06:30pm – 12.30pm Fri). – Hours required to work per week are 37.00 unless otherwise stated (this does not include lunch breaks). – Start and finish times to be agreed with local Line Management, in accordance with local site core hours.
