Our Customer Compliance Group (CCG) encompass multiple customer facing areas. As a Compliance Caseworker Manager, you could be a Front-Line Manager (FLM) and lead a team of Higher Officer Compliance Caseworkers as a direct line manager, ensuring they meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and adhere to HMRC policy. You could also be a Business Unit Head (BUH) who is responsible for a command of FLMs and their teams. You would therefore not directly manage caseworkers but oversee the smooth running of any new compliance rules, operational change and ensure command wide targets and KPIs are met.

Your role will involve driving the success of your team whilst ensuring they are motivated, supported and aligned to strategic goals. You will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring compliance with legislation and HMRC standards. Within this role, you will also be accountable and responsible for ensuring HR policies, processes and guidance are applied fairly and consistently, these include things such as attendance, wellbeing and balancing individual requirements with business needs such as our flexible working policy. We are looking for you to handle any difficult conversations with a consistent approach across your team.

Your leadership will focus on fostering an inclusive environment, supporting team development, and ensuring that your team is up to date with learning expectations. You'll be collaborating with other teams to ensure delivery of results whilst having a focus on the wider commands wellbeing. Your ability to manage the day-to-day activities of your team, monitoring progress and ensuring timely decision making will be crucial in achieving departmental objectives.

Some of your responsibilities will also include:

  • Supporting and developing your team with performance and development conversations whilst fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Collaborating across CCG to meet performance targets and deadlines.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and managing your resources effectively.
  • Act as a sounding board for difficult management issues and make informed decisions based on legislation and guidance.
  • Monitoring Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) and apprenticeship progress, ensuring continuous professional development.

Full support will be given to successful candidates. This will include a range of Civil Service learning, mentoring and if deemed appropriate, enrolment to the Management Development Programme.

We are recruiting to fill roles across several business areas within CCG, some roles require additional security checks (e.g., Counter Terrorism Clearance or Security Clearance). Candidates are matched to vacancies in strict merit order and will undertake the necessary security clearance for that role.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrable experience of adapting to and leading through operational change.
  • Proven experience in a management or leadership role, driving KPIs in a professional setting.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload, flexing capacity across areas to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Skilled in identifying and nurturing talent within teams, providing coaching feedback and development opportunities.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in an Operational Delivery or Compliance environment.

  • Alongside your salary of £44,110, HM Revenue and Customs contributes £12,778 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
