A prominent National law firm is looking for a Risk & Compliance Manager to join their team. As Risk & Compliance Manager you will be responsible for developing and implementing risk management policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing guidance on risk and compliance matters within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Manage actual and potential claims, liaising with professional indemnity insurers and maintaining relevant records.
- Identify risk areas and implement procedural improvements.
- Maintain Root Cause Analysis records to comply with Law South Risk & Compliance Standards.
- Handle complaints against the firm and escalate as necessary to the SRA or Legal Ombudsman.
- Act as Liaison Officer for SRA inspections.
- Provide guidance to fee earners on professional conduct, conflicts of interest, ethics, and SRA regulations.
- Supervise and train the Risk and Compliance Assistant.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure firm-wide compliance.
- Manage professional indemnity insurance proposals and inquiries.
- Review and assess third-party business terms (e.g., lender panels).
Qualifications:
- Previous law firm experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of risk management techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of professional indemnity insurance and other relevant insurance classes.
- Familiarity with SRA regulations, Legal Ombudsman schemes, and compliance standards.
- Ability to liaise effectively with regulatory bodies.
