Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Redbridge to assist with the appointment of a Hostels Manager, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £26.45 – £34.23 per hour
Summary:
The Hostel Manager will be responsible for running and managing hostel accommodation for the Housing Needs Service. This includes ensuring that accommodation is let efficiently, residents receive necessary support, compliance and maintenance issues are addressed, and that the service aligns with national and local housing regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee hostel management, including letting rooms, maintaining occupancy, and handling administrative tasks.
- Ensure effective housing management services, including repairs, maintenance, and compliance with health & safety standards.
- Provide advice and support to residents, assisting with move-on options.
- Manage staff and resources to ensure smooth operations of hostel and short-term accommodation.
- Work with statutory and voluntary agencies to maintain effective temporary accommodation provision.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with housing legislation and council strategies.
- Maintain service links with relevant housing and homelessness legislation.
Qualification:
- Foundation degrees; diplomas of higher education; BTEC Higher National Diploma; NVQ level 5; some professional qualifications; and equivalent qualifications, or evidence of demonstrable application in the course of experience.
Essentials:
- Understanding of housing advice laws, security of tenure, welfare benefits, and social care systems.
- Experience managing hostels or residential settings and working with vulnerable client groups.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and manage complex cases while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
