£26,000 - £30,000 + Company Car
Clarkson Evans is the largest electrical and solar installer working in the new build housing sector, wiring over 24,000 homes a year. We partner with the UK’s leading housing developers and were delighted to be crowned Subcontractor of the Year at the 2023 Housebuilder Awards.
The Role
This position primarily covers the South and South East of England, spanning from Gloucester to Poole and across to Kent. It includes regular visits to our Gloucester head office, with occasional support required in other regions as needed.
We have a first-class track record, meeting high standards of health and safety is essential and we are keen to improve further. With this in mind, we are looking for either a Qualified or Trainee Health & Safety Advisor to join our team. This site-based role will work closely with our Production and Management teams to continuously improve our organisational safety performance and the promotion of a positive health and safety culture.
If joining as a trainee, after successfully completing an external qualification sponsored by us, we expect you to move into a Health & Safety Advisor role after 2 years, with further opportunities to progress when positions become available.
The working hours are based on a 39-hour week, typically 8.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 4.00pm on Fridays, with an hour for lunch. However, hours are required to be flexible to meet site visit needs and may require earlier starts or later finishes.
Responsibilities
- Completing daily site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Assisting with records, inspections, and monitoring activities to verify compliance with, and effectiveness of, company health & safety processes and procedures
- Completing all follow up actions raised in audit reports
- Develop and deliver innovative means of interacting with our colleagues that promote positive safety culture, wellbeing and protecting the environment
- Supporting the Health & Safety team to conduct incident investigations and reports
- Monitor and report on compliance and training across your area, following up where required
- Supporting the implementation of Company Safety Policy, Plans and Initiatives
- Attending and participating in site meetings to improve site communications
- Assist in training new team members during the induction process.
Requirements
- Previous experience of working in construction health and safety is beneficial but not essential
- Health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH) would be advantageous but is not essential
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to coach and influence staff to adopt safer working practices
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience of using a variety of IT packages i.e. Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and flexibility to use new IT packages.
- Full UK Driving Licence
