The Role: As a Junior Merchandiser, you’ll be at the heart of driving profitability and supporting the growth of the business. You will be providing key data-driven insights, making forecasts, and managing stock strategically to help shape the company’s merchandising strategy. Working alongside the Senior Merchandiser, you’ll be ensuring that the buying function is fully aligned with the business’s overall strategy. This role will see you contribute to long-term planning and in-season trading, while helping to optimise stock levels and sales performance.

Key Objectives:
- Contribute to the achievement of departmental KPIs.
- Ensure efficient sales and stock management through effective contracting processes.
- Take full ownership of specific departments, managing stock levels and sales to their fullest potential.
- Keep things running smoothly by effectively managing the critical path.
Your Responsibilities:
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use statistical models, forecasts, and historical sales data to optimise sales volumes and profitability across designated product areas.
- Budgeting & Planning: Assist in planning budgets by category, determining option counts, and setting the depth of purchase, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Stock & Forecasting: Oversee stock levels based on weekly sales and stock intakes, ensuring seasonality of products and adjusting forecasts as needed.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor sales performance and identify best and worst sellers, providing actionable insights to improve results.
- Weekly Trading: Analyse weekly trading performance, identify issues, and prepare action plans in collaboration with the Senior Merchandiser.
- Markdown Management: Take charge of the markdown process, ensuring effective execution and recommending future pricing strategies.
Who We’re Looking For:
You’ll have experience in a merchandising role – whether that’s Junior Merchandiser, Senior Assistant Merchandiser, or something similar within a retail environment. You’re highly analytical, with strong data analysis and forecasting skills. You’re proficient in Microsoft Excel and ideally have experience with merchandising planning systems. You’re an excellent communicator and can collaborate effectively across teams. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are a proactive problem-solver with a can-do attitude.
