£35k with bonus, company benefits, tronc and paid overtime, company pension - approx 20 minutes from central Chester. Presently working with this client for their venue in a great rural location in the heart of the Cheshire countryside and recruiting for a Sous Chef to join their kitchen team. The client is looking for a candidate with experience of working with great quality and fresh produce.

You will be working with the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and to assist in the preparation and cooking, working in all sections of the kitchen. The operation consists of a gastro pub offering local and seasonal produce, all fresh, and is well known for supporting the local community in the area. The venue caters for approx 80 covers with a main bar as well as developed outside areas for food and drink during the better weather and it can also offer great spaces for events, functions as well as weddings for up to 100 guests.

Duties will include the following areas:

  • Takes care of daily food preparation and duties assigned by the Head Chef to meet the required standard and quality.
  • Coordinates daily tasks with the Head and follows all instructions and recommendations.
  • Ensure food is prepared in accordance with recipe, food hygiene and allergen control requirements.
  • Help manage the development and supervision of the Junior and Commis Chefs on the sections, ensuring they are fully trained and understand their duties.
  • Ensure that stock is rotated and controlled within the specific section of the kitchen.
  • Ensure all food hygiene regulations are adhered to and comply with all food regulation standards and HACCP guidelines.
  • Be able to prioritise tasks and demonstrate effective time management.
  • A team player with good communication skills.
  • Good organisation skills, be punctual and work well under pressure.
