We have a new opportunity for an Assistant Electrical Engineer (Buildings Services) to join our growing engineering function to work on some of the most high profile infrastructure projects in the UK. This position within our M&E engineering team will suit a developing Buildings Services Electrical Engineer who can demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team. The role will be based from one of our key offices: York, Birmingham, Manchester or Reading with the flexibility of our hybrid working model.

The Assistant Electrical Engineer will work with a team of engineers producing the design delivery of allocated M&E Projects as instructed by the projects Lead M&E Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

The Electrical Engineer’s main duties will be the production of electrical designs as instructed by the projects Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) and/or Lead Engineer and to be responsible for:

  • Ensuring designs are completed to meet CRE/Lead Engineers requirements.
  • Ensuring designs are completed to the timescales agreed with the CRE/Lead Engineer.
  • Planning the allocated design works to meet the agreed timescales.
  • Identify changes to the projects client requirements and raise the changes with the CRE/Lead Engineer.

Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of electrical services design within the built environment and/or transport infrastructure including low voltage distribution, lighting, small power, containment, earthing, fire alarms or intruder alarms
  • Experience in the use of Trimble ProDesign/Electrical OM, Microstation/AutoCAD and/or Relux/Dialux Design Software.
  • Qualified to HNC or equivalent
  • Experience of working in Network Rail IP ProjectWise and/or BIM Standards
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • A self-motivated team player able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to build and maintain good relationships with engineers from other internal discipline teams to promote good inter-discipline working relationships and a “One Team” ethos.
