The Role
We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established M&E contractor based in Liverpool for a Mechanical Contracts Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing multiple mechanical projects across the public sector, including schools, universities, healthcare facilities, and hotels. The role involves managing the full contract lifecycle—from pre-construction planning through to delivery and final handover. You will work closely with site teams, clients, and senior management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

Responsibilities
- Manage multiple mechanical contracts from start to finish
- Oversee project planning, procurement, and budget control
- Lead and support site managers and supervisors
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, cost, quality, and compliance standards
- Work closely with clients, consultants, and the wider project delivery team
- Regular site visits to monitor progress and support on-site teams
- Lead on commissioning, handover, and final account stages
- Monitor health & safety, CDM compliance, and company standards
- Identify and resolve any issues or delays proactively
- Provide regular progress updates to senior management
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Contracts Manager or Senior Mechanical Project Manager role
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems (e.g., heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing)
- Background in delivering public sector projects such as education and healthcare
- Excellent planning, budgeting, and contract management skills
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification (IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering)
- Confident communicator with strong leadership skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Based within commutable distance of Liverpool and willing to travel across the North West
