Lawes are pleased to be working with a respected Insurer in their search for an experienced Underwriter. You will support the underwriting team in assessing and managing Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance risks, with a focus on clients in the technology and professional services sectors. This role helps ensure the team writes profitable business while providing a high level of service to brokers and clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the underwriting of new and renewal D&O business, mainly for tech and professional risk clients.
- Assist in reviewing financials, risk information and background details to help make underwriting decisions.
- Prepare and issue quotes, binders and policy documents in line with company guidelines.
- Communicate with brokers to gather information, clarify terms and support negotiations.
- Keep underwriting records and systems accurate and up to date.
- Help with portfolio tracking, reporting and supporting senior underwriters with strategic tasks.
- Stay aware of changes in the D&O market and industry trends that may affect clients or underwriting decisions.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years' experience in D&O underwriting or a related commercial insurance role.
- Experience working with technology and professional services clients.
- Good understanding of D&O cover and how these policies are structured.
DAY-TO-DAY
- Review and assess incoming risks and prepare documents to support the quoting process.
- Deal with broker queries and help agree terms and pricing.
- Attend internal team meetings and contribute to case discussions.
- Manage ongoing policy changes such as endorsements or renewals.
- Keep systems up to date and maintain organised files.
- Carry out basic market research and keep up with developments in relevant sectors.
SKILLS
- Solid understanding of D&O insurance and the UK market.
