The predicted salary is between 60000 - 90000 £ per year.
Office in Bristol but this is open to remote working. £70,000 - £90,000 + Benefits Package. To be eligible for this position we can only consider UK Citizens due to the clearances required within the UK nuclear and defence industries.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Nuclear Safety Consultant to be part of a successful and growing business. We are keen to hear from individuals with experience of nuclear submarine power, civil nuclear and/or naval nuclear facilities in the UK. You will be integral in helping to shape a growing company and in the Nuclear safety consultancy area. You will work with multiple clients providing specialist safety engineering consultancy services and you will support business development activities. You will use your existing safety engineering knowledge to influence the design, operation and maintenance of complex systems to ensure that technical risks are identified, communicated and managed; and that the safety of those using or relying on the system is not compromised.
Requirements
- Bachelor / Master of Engineering / Science Degree.
- Proven prior delivery experience in nuclear safety assurance.
- Delivery of Systems Safety activities (operational safety case development, hazard listing and fault schedule development, safety case report authoring, HAZOP, Bow Tie, ALARP optioneering).
- Delivery of Deterministic Safety Assessments (design basis assessment, beyond design basis assessment, safety functional requirement derivation etc).
- Demonstrable knowledge of Authorising Conditions and Licensing Conditions for nuclear sites.
- Client management / stakeholder engagement skills (desirable).
- Chartered Status with UK Engineering Council or a desire to achieve chartership.
- Consultancy experience.
Required Skills
- Lead and deliver high-quality systems safety assurance activities.
- This would include: Authoring safety management plans, undertaking detailed hazard and risk analyses, deriving, and demonstrating compliance with, safety requirements, developing safety cases and risk management plans, authoring overall safety assurance arguments, leading periodic safety reviews for equipment/facilities, liaising with the Regulators as necessary.
- Define scopes of work and work breakdown structures.
- Develop creative commercial strategies for the successful contracting of new work.
- Strong customer focus, able to easily elicit and understand requirements, build professional relationships, and be trusted to deliver.
- Articulate and effective communicator, able to clearly present information verbally and within written reports.
- Mentor and develop junior/less experienced Safety Engineers.
