Our client is a recognised digital solutions provider supporting secure, large-scale programmes across government, defence, and public service domains. Theyre currently scaling their engineering capability and looking to bring on a Back End Engineer who is highly proficient in Java and Spring Boot.

As a Back End Engineer, youll be embedded within a multidisciplinary agile delivery team, responsible for building secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems. Youll play a critical role in shaping modern microservices architectures and delivering trusted solutions that solve real-world problems.

Your responsibilities as a Back End Engineer will include:

• Designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot

• Developing clean, efficient backend code that integrates seamlessly with wider systems

• Collaborating closely with frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end features

• Participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

• Ensuring quality through unit/integration testing and documentation best practices

Your background as a Back End Engineer should include:

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot frameworks

• Familiarity with containerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines

• Understanding of cloud-based development (AWS, Azure or GCP)

• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases

• Comfortable contributing to collaborative team environments and agile delivery models
