YBS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pensions Manager to join our People Division (role internally known as Pensions Manager). The successful candidate will develop and deliver our pension strategy, policy and plan for Yorkshire Building Society, aligning requirements to the Society's financial and people strategy whilst maintaining financial integrity and compliance for the Society's schemes.
This role is a hybrid role working from home capability and occasional travel to our Leeds head office.
About the role
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the safe delivery, prioritisation and coordination of work across the team as we cultivate an ambitious culture that creates joyful experiences for our colleagues and builds a future-ready society. As the Secretary to the Trustee, you must ensure that a robust and best practice governance model is in place which includes planning and producing associated Trustee Board papers to the highest standard. You will raise company-wide awareness of pensions-related matters and be willing to present material to scheme members, for example, presentations to new YBS colleagues or those approaching retirement. As our Senior Pensions Manager, you'll also ensure that the approach to pension risk is fully aligned to the Society's risk appetite, encompassing risk identification, mitigation/acceptance and associated reporting.
About you
You must have in-depth knowledge and understanding of pension and employee benefit arrangements and the UK pension and tax framework and be able to handle the complexities and potential conflicts of interest associated with supporting both the employer and Trustees effectively. APMI (Associate of the Pensions Management Institute) qualified or equivalent, you will need to develop strong internal and external relationships and proactively identify, define and oversee the management of all risks associated with delivery as well as deal with complex pension claims and oversee all death and ill health cases. You'll have strong communication skills, and be confident in communicating, influencing and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
