Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence & Security sector, is now looking to recruit an Environmental Test Technician on a contract basis, to be based in Marlow. This role is crucial for ensuring that products meet stringent environmental specifications and standards within the defence industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up environmental tests with various test equipment and facilities such as Network Analysers, Data Loggers, Climatic Chambers, and Vibration Shakers (training provided).
  • Execute de-risk, development, and qualification testing, ensuring adherence to agreed deadlines and maintaining test standards.
  • Conduct production Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) testing according to relevant requirements.
  • Oversee environmental testing at subcontract test houses as needed.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to specific requirements, equipment performance, or personnel safety.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven track record in performing environmental tests to customer requirements, including producing test reports and technical data.
  • Preferably educated to HNC/HND level in a related discipline; however, Level 4 NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or similar is acceptable.
  • Experience in a test environment.
  • Hands-on experience with workshop and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of using electromagnetic shaker systems, climatic chambers, tensile test machines, network analysers, DMMs, oscilloscopes, and frequency counters.
  • Laboratory or field testing experience with aerospace products is ideal but not essential.

  • Understanding and appreciation of safe working practices.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritise tasks, and manage workload.

  • Delivery of quality testing, first-time right, on time, and within agreed duration.
  • Adherence to company SHE, FOD, and 5S practices.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely report production.
  • Effective record-keeping ensuring the traceability of test results.
