Overview of opportunity:
- Following a restructure and the creation of a new Business unit last year, my client is now on the look-out for an Estimator.
- They are now seeking an Estimating professional who has either experience in the pricing and presentation to clients of geotechnical or ground engineering solutions or more general civil engineering solutions.
- This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in some interesting and challenging minor and major projects across a range of sectors including Infrastructure, Marine and Renewable Energy.
Key responsibilities:
- Assisting with the management of incoming enquiries including the assessment and prioritisation of business appropriate tender opportunities.
- Developing appropriate opportunity bid/win strategies.
- Collaboratively working with the technical and operations team and supply chain to prepare cost studies for internal governance review.
- Writing and presenting tender offers to clients.
- Engaging in client interactions and tender negotiations from receipt of enquiry through to contract award and project handover to the operations team.
- Engaging with and assisting the Business Development Manager in identifying appropriate future clients and major project opportunities that would benefit from the value this division has to offer.
- Engaging with and assisting the Business Development Manager in providing continuing professional development presentations to their clients, and in attending appropriate client engagement events, industry exhibitions, etc.
Knowledge & experience required:
- A relevant civil engineering degree or bias towards geotechnical engineering and professional qualification status is preferable.
- Ability to discharge professional duties with integrity and ability to behave with integrity in relation to all conduct bearing upon the standing, reputation and dignity of the company.
- Have full regard to matters of health and safety, well-being, the environment and sustainability.
- Significant experience of the UK geotechnical or civil engineering industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with colleagues and clients.
- Excellent IT skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Salesforce.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6 and Candy is preferable though not essential.
- Ability to develop professional knowledge, skills, and competence on a continuing basis and ability to aid the professional development of others.
- Full UK driving licence.
