Due to a number of exciting change and transformational activities across the Rolls-Royce business we are now seeking to add a number of Aerothermal Engineers to join the Fluid Mechanics Aerothermal function.

As an Aerothermal Engineer, you will be responsible for and have knowledge in problem resolution, defining requirements, analysing test data, aerothermal modelling of components and systems to facilitate component and engine design and for methods development, rig test support, verifying products, and supporting physical & functional systems and components throughout the product lifecycle. The Aerothermal Engineer will be based in Bristol 3 days per week, with 2 days spent remote working.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Using in-house computational tools and methods to derive understanding of component and system level interactions in combustion and high temperature environments.
  • Requirement setting for rig activities, and subsequent monitoring and analysis of rig test measurements and results.
  • Occasional running and supporting of low and high technology level tests.
  • Developing methods with view to facilitating robust test vehicle design.
  • Defining creative, robust, optimised solutions managing risk and applying new technology as appropriate to deliver quality within highly regulated industries.
  • Supporting validation and verification activities.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in an Aerothermal Engineering or Fluid Mechanics position.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Aerothermal methodologies and have an understanding of cross-discipline engineering concepts and their impacts on system/platform design.
  • An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters.
