Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and proactive Risk Manager to join our automotive product development team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through production launch. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, program management, and supply chain teams to ensure potential risks are properly managed and compliance with industry standards is maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement risk management frameworks and strategies tailored to automotive product development processes (e.g., APQP, ISO 26262, ASPICE).
  • Identify potential technical, program, safety, regulatory, and supply chain risks in early development phases.
  • Maintain and continuously update product risk registers, FMEA documents, and other relevant risk analysis tools.
  • Facilitate risk assessment workshops and collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and prioritize risks.
  • Define and track mitigation and contingency plans to address identified risks.
  • Monitor project progress and report risk status to leadership, including escalation of critical risks.
  • Ensure alignment of risk activities with overall project schedules and milestones.
  • Drive compliance with industry standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 26262 (functional safety), and customer-specific requirements.
  • Support audits, design reviews, and gate reviews with risk documentation and status reporting.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture by training and mentoring project teams on risk management best practices.

Skills required:

  • Strong understanding of automotive development standards and methodologies (e.g., APQP, PPAP, FMEA, ISO 26262, ASPICE).
  • Experience with tools like IQ-FMEA, PTC Windchill, or other PLM/risk management systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and facilitation abilities to work across disciplines and with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified in Risk Management (PMI-RMP, ISO 31000, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Experience working with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Knowledge of software and hardware risk assessments in embedded automotive systems.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity risk as related to automotive systems (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Excellent experience in risk management within the automotive industry, preferably in a product development environment.
