Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified Engineer to lead our NoBo Technical Assessment team, focusing on desktop technical evaluations of pressure systems and components to ensure compliance before they are placed in the UK (UKCA) or European Union (CE). The successful candidate will conduct compliance assessments, reviewing technical documentation, and validating designs according to Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU, Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR), and relevant standards. This is an office-based role requiring technical expertise in pressure systems certification and design.

Key Responsibilities:
- To lead a division as the UK Notified Body (NoBo) Department Head
- To manage current projects and expand/grow the business
- Review and assess technical documentation, including design drawings, calculations, and material certificates.
- Ensure designs comply with PED, PSSR, and other relevant standards and directives.
- Liaise with Clients, Project Managers, and Conformity Assessors to ensure documentation is complete and meets regulatory standards.
- Issue technical reports and certificates (UKCA or CE) of conformity based on desktop assessments.
- Provide technical support and guidance on regulatory compliance and best practices to both clients and internal teams.
- Keep abreast of industry standards and regulatory changes impacting pressure equipment design and assessment.
- Assist in developing and maintaining desktop assessment processes and documentation protocols.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in the technical assessment of pressure systems, including design, within the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive.
Education: University degree in Engineering. Level of education: BSc/MSc/PhD.
Qualifications:
- Welding compliance and Inspection (Ideally IWE/EWE / ASME AI or equivalent)
- Materials science
- Process engineering: heat treatment, machining, plastic forming
- Destructive and non-destructive testing
- Quality assessment and control
- PED/PESR, harmonised standards, national and international codes
Competences:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pressure systems design, evaluation, or technical assessments.
- PED/PESR, harmonised standards, national and international codes application experience in industry or Body
- Process engineering experience in industry.
- Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills.
- Experience of welding procedure and welder qualification (WPQR/WQT etc) to ASME or BS EN 15614/9606
Desirable skills:
- Previous experience with NoBo for Pressure Systems business, managing quotations and cost estimates for inspection work.
- Knowledge of certification of structural steel and aluminium fabricators in accordance with EN 1090.
- Knowledge of certification to EN ISO 3834.
