HGV Class 1 Driver – EP Group: EP Group is an award winning, global packaging manufacturer with production facilities across Europe and South East Asia. Our global headquarters in Birmingham is home to our dedicated paper manufacturing division providing a wide range of food packaging products for the likes of McDonalds, Amazon, Marks & Spencer and Greggs. We now have an opportunity for an experienced HGV Class 1 driver to join the team in our Birmingham Outbase. To provide a best in class, professional, efficient, safe and legally compliant delivery service. The HGV Class 1 Driver is offered on a full-time permanent basis, starting at between 4am and 7am, guaranteed 50 hours pw with 1 / 2 nights out per week. We offer an excellent package which includes a highly competitive remuneration; pension, and 28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays. Reports to Transport Manager The Role – HGV Class 1 Driver: * Responsible for the safe, accurate and timely transportation of multiple daily cage/pallet and/or carton deliveries from outbase to customer * As first point of contact, provide excellent customer service and actively seek ways to engender a positive relationship at all times * Immediately communicate any issues encountered to central Transport hub and keep customer apprised of actions being taken to resolve * Load and unload deliveries, either individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment * Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and carrying of freight * Inspect vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after trips and submit a fully completed daily vehicle check sheet * Maintain interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness on a daily basis * Confirm prior to outbase departure that all delivery details are available for inspection and that appropriate proof of delivery (POD) accompanies each delivery and is completed/signed off prior to leaving the customer’s premises * Ensure that legal compliance, Health and Safety regulations and EPUK/Outbase procedures are followed at all times * Complete drop point risk assessments as and when required * When necessary, complete 1 for 1 pallet/cage repatriation and report any non-conformance, ensuring cages/pallets collected are re-usable * Feedback any travel/dwell time issues as and when encountered to central Transport hub as they happen * Feedback any delivery restriction issues/changes to Outbase Supervisor * Any other ad-hoc reasonable duties required by EPUK The Person – HGV Class 1 Driver: * Minimum 2 Years’ HGV Class 1 (Cat C+E) driving experience * Experience of double decker haulage is preferred * HGV 1 (Cat C+E) driver licence – clean driver licence required * Driver Qualification Card (DQC) * Driver Digital Tachograph Card * Flexible in hours worked * Highly focused on customer service * Excellent communication skills * Self-starter – demonstrating an energetic, hands-on approach * Self-motivated with an ability to work individually as well as within a team
