IP Designer 9-month contract Reading – Hybrid working MBNL is owned equally by EE and Three, two of the UK’s most recognisable and innovative mobile operators. They are our shareholders, but to us they are also our customers. Our mission is to create maximum value for our Shareholders, by delivering and managing their best network experiences at the lowest cost. The Transmission Design team is part of Operational Services and responsible for the delivery and maintenance of a series of design solutions, guidelines, and policies on behalf of our shareholders. These designs are delivered via Managed Service Providers (MSP’s), the Shareholders Design teams and specialist resources to enhance the capabilities of the networks. We are currently seeking a Principal Transmission Designer to join the team on a contract basis to support with these activities. What you can expect to be doing: Work with the Shareholder teams to develop Transmission and Transport design solution, associated guidelines and performance criteria in line with technical developments. Undertake translation of Technical Committee Transmission and Transport Design requirements into design criteria that support shareholder capacity, delivery, and quality targets. Act as Technical Lead within MBNL on the IP/Ethernet Programme in respect to design, strategy, deployment, and technically related issues: Creation of High-Level (HLD) and Low-Level (LLD) Design documentation Work closely with the Network Design Programme Manager and the Operations function to ensure that such projects are prioritised as appropriate within the overall Design Programme. Identify planning tool requirements such that they support the delivery of 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G networks, consolidation, and evolution to future technologies Work closely with the Capacity function within MBNL to ensure that Transmission and Transport capacity requirements are identified at design stage. Liaise with Equipment Vendors and acting as key technical contact point. What we are looking for: Experience within IP design with a background working on Cisco kit – MPLS, TCP/IP, Routing and switching as well as RAN and Core experience Strong understanding of 2G/3G/4G Mobile Transmission Networks Good knowledge of 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G RAN design and core network architecture. Experience with transmission and circuit planning tools Knowledge of network security requirements and protocols related to IP networks Experience in a Network Operator or Managed Service Provider environment Ability to respond flexibly to design challenges arising from the Acquisition and Implementation processes. University/College degree or degree calibre preferably from telecommunications or Electrical Engineering background MBNL – building strength through inclusion.
