ROLE TYPE: Full Time, Permanent

LOCATION: Hertfordshire, UK

HOURS/DAYS (per week): Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm (with 1 study day if appropriate), Office Based

SALARY RANGE: £15,000 to £24,000 per annum (depending on experience/apprenticeship level)

My client is a Chartered Accounting Practice based in Hertfordshire, with over 75 years combined experience. Their clients are from a wide spectrum of industries, varying from sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. This Practice caters for all types of business and has a wide range of long-standing clients, providing them with an excellent understanding and knowledge in an extensive variety of areas. They work closely with businesses and individual clients helping them with their day-to-day accounting needs, together with the other regulatory burdens and year-end compliance.

JOB ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

My client is looking for a Trainee Accounts Clerk to join their growing firm. A suitable candidate will be looking for a role within a busy Accountancy Practice whilst studying to complete their AAT qualifications. The candidate will be supported throughout their studies and provided with relevant on-the-job training and experience. Once the candidate has achieved their AAT qualification, they will be looking to continue supporting the employee with their study for their professional accountancy qualifications (ICAEW & ACA).

The candidate will work as part of an accounts preparation team, reporting directly to the four directors. Daily duties will include preparation of accounts supporting schedules for individuals and limited companies, payroll compliance and preparation, and submission of VAT returns, as well as general office administrative tasks such as emailing clients.

ANY SPECIFIC TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential with an eye for detail, and have the ability to multi-task a variety of responsibilities.
  • Confident, polite, professional personality.
  • Basic understanding of the responsibilities of an accountancy practice required as well as basic knowledge of double entry bookkeeping.
  • 5 GCSEs Grade C (Grade 5 or equivalent) and above including English and Maths.
