Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial support to our project teams. In this role, you will maintain commercial information, ensure compliance with contractual requirements, and support the achievement of the company's objectives. You will liaise with client representatives and third parties on various commercial matters, including variations, claims, and additional payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both the project and business unit level. Oversee cash flow reporting and carry out cost management, including forecasting. Update monthly CVR, cost, and commercial plans.
  • Processes: Support the adherence to internal commercial processes across the business unit. Continuously look for opportunities to improve processes and procedures. Assist in the development and improvement of processes within joint ventures or alliances.
  • External Relationships: Ensure contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are aligned with company interests, identifying commercial risks. Ensure appropriate engagement of the supply chain with correct contract terms and conditions. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and third parties. Oversee subcontract letting, negotiation, and financial accounting. Prepare applications for payment and address commercial issues, including variations and claims.
  • Internal Relationships: Foster effective interaction between the Commercial Team and operational site teams. Work with site management to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery. Share best practices and proactively advise site teams on cost management.

Person Specification:

Essential: Previous experience in the construction industry. HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying. Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and an understanding of Construction Law. Proven experience in commercial management and subcontractor procurement, including measurement and control. Strong knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis. Experience in estimation and cost analysis. Excellent communication, numerical, and computer literacy skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent organisational and time-management skills, able to work to tight deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Desirable: Membership with RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards it. CSCS card.
