A recognised high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tooling Engineer. Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the Tooling Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Owning and delivering all new Tooling projects
  • Reviewing and buying off Tooling designs
  • Project management of tooling suppliers
  • Attending buy off events and overseeing sampling and commissioning at suppliers and home line
  • Owning and managing Pre and Final acceptance tests
  • Producing 2D product, tooling, fixture, equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality and engineering activities
  • Conducting Feasibility reviews and applying design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to evaluate product designs
  • Having a complete understanding of part tolerances, dimensional capability statistics and GD&T
  • Generating and developing Part and Tooling CAD models using SolidWorks or CATIA
  • Being capable of interrogating flow analysis reports
  • Generating SOR, RFQ to support engineering and quoting activities
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities through effective use of 3D and 2D CAD to propose product design changes and tooling improvements
  • Participating in root-cause analysis and implementing countermeasures
  • Maintaining master tool drawings and facilitating access to Toolroom staff for all tooling maintenance, minimising downtime and costs
  • Assisting with department standardisation process
  • Validating Flow and thermal analysis during production, working closely with toolroom and process engineers to capture lessons learned
  • Reviewing current production tooling issues and identifying areas for improvement
