Senior Maintenance Engineer

Senior Maintenance Engineer Leading a team between 2 – 4 Engineers we are looking for a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our client on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role, where you will be performing maintenance tasks on both Facilities and Production Equipment. You will be a self-motivated candidate with ambitions to progress within the company. You will focus on improving efficiency, delivering cost savings across the business as well as managing the people within the Maintenance department. Location: Newmarket, Suffolk Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday (some weekend / evening callouts may be required) Salary: £42,500 – £55,000 Per Annum Benefits: 20 days holiday + 8 bank holidays, NEST Pension, Free Parking, Career Progression Opportunities Duration: Permanent We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Maintenance Engineer to manage the maintenance and repair of our facilities and equipment. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong technical background in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, as well as the ability to lead a small team and ensure the smooth operation of the site. Job Duties: * Manage a team of 2-4 engineers, providing guidance and direction to ensure high-quality and efficient maintenance performance. * Diagnose and resolve issues with production equipment, machinery, and building infrastructure in a timely manner. * Provide on-site technical support and expertise during breakdowns or equipment malfunctions. * Conducting planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks including Mobile racking maintenance and repairs, Management of dock levellers and loading bays, floor repairs, Roller/slide door repairs/replacement / Conveyors / Facilities. * Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. * Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies including regulatory controls. * Work closely with operations and logistics teams to minimise disruption to daily business. * Liaise with external contractors and service providers as the main point of contact * Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. * Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives. What we are looking for: * Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled maintenance role within a logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment. * Strong Electrical and Mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills. * Self-motivated and ambitious attitude with desire to progress in the business * Welding skills would be advantageous for this vacancy but not essential. * Experience of leading and managing a team. * Relevant technical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations) * Strong understanding of health and safety regulations. * Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication and organisational skills.
