Our client, based in South East London, is a dedicated provider of residential care for children and young people. They are seeking a compassionate and motivated Deputy Care Manager to join their dynamic team in a Children’s Residential Home.

Role Overview

As the Deputy Care Manager, you will work alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the effective day-to-day management of the Children’s Residential home. Your role will involve maintaining the highest standards of care, leading by example, and providing guidance and support to the care staff while fostering a positive and safe environment for the children.

Key Responsibilities of the Deputy Care Manager:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing the operational management of the home.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support a dedicated team of care staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including Ofsted standards.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans for each child.
  • Facilitate staff training and ongoing professional development.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and maintain adherence to safeguarding policies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and positive change.
  • Participate in the on-call rota as needed.

Qualifications and Experience of the Deputy Care Manager:

  • NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or willingness to work towards Level 5.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a residential care setting for young adults.
  • Proven supervisory or managerial experience is desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding practices and relevant legislation.
  • A valid driving license is preferred.
