Superior Recruitment Group offers a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Civil/Structural Engineering to join their large client in Adlington or Sunderland. The Head of Civil/Structural Engineering will be responsible for delivering civil and structural engineering scope across projects, studies, and bids. This includes ensuring designs meet safety standards, code compliance, scope, quality, cost, and delivery timelines. The role involves promoting structural efficiency, cost optimization, and quality through resource management and acting as a subject matter expert. It includes management responsibilities and occasional client-facing duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the quality and timely delivery of civil/structural engineering outputs according to project requirements.
- Guarantee all designs are code compliant, meet specifications, are safe, and consider lifecycle requirements.
- Support project teams with guidance and information.
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure synergy.
- Promote standardization and re-use of civil/structural equipment and designs.
- Manage departmental performance, set objectives, and oversee multiple sites.
- Develop tools and processes to ensure robust designs and scope alignment.
- Review and approve calculations, reports, and models for compliance.
- Support checking requirements and conduct site surveys with reports.
- Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and lessons learned sessions.
- Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and quality improvements.
- Manage NCR rectifications and preventative measures.
- Support bids with engineering data and concept designs.
- Assess and verify sub-contractor outputs.
- Monitor performance against KPIs, aiming to reduce lead times and costs.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 procedures and support audits.
- Engage in personal development and align with company values.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- BEng (Hons) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), preferably ICE or IStructE.
- Extensive experience in civil/structural engineering.
- Knowledge of construction industries and standards.
- Proficiency in structural software (STAAD Pro, TEKLA Structures).
- Ability to interpret site reports and structural calculations.
- Experience managing project teams.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and good communicator.
- Completion of company induction required.
