As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide in-class and out-of-class support, working closely with students who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. You will use a calm, patient, and supportive approach to help students succeed.

  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour calmly.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support plans.
  • Encourage engagement in learning and support students in achieving their potential.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or trauma.
  • Strong ability to remain calm under pressure and use positive behaviour management techniques.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with young people.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with school staff.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in different school settings.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a school, PRU, or alternative provision.
  • Training in Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice, or Behaviour Support Strategies.
  • Knowledge of mental health, Autism, ADHD, or attachment difficulties.

This is an incredibly rewarding role where you can make a lasting impact on the lives of young people. If you are passionate about helping students thrive, we would love to hear from you!
