The Company
Sharpak Aylesham is a manufacturer of thermoformed plastic packaging for use in the Fresh Produce and Food Service divisions. Established in 1968, the site has significantly grown in recent years and aims to be the first choice for rigid plastic packaging solutions through our reliability, efficiency, and innovation as a manufacturer of sustainable packaging on a local and global platform.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm with an hour for lunch.

Role Purpose: The Extrusion Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the extrusion department, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality output. Reporting to the Operations Director, the role involves supervising the extrusion process, managing the team, and ensuring compliance with production targets, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the extrusion department, ensuring that production schedules and KPIs are met.
- Oversee machine setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting to minimise downtime and enhance efficiency.
- Train, mentor, and supervise extrusion employees to ensure competency and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance, product safety and quality control standards, addressing any deviations or production issues.
- Manage shift handovers effectively, ensuring clear communication between teams.
- Ensure adherence to health & safety policies, implementing best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Manage workforce planning, ensuring adequate staffing levels for all shifts.
- Maintain accurate records and reports including production performance, efficiency, and quality metrics.
The Person:
- Experience in a management role within a high-volume manufacturing environment, ideally within fresh produce.
- Technical training in the extrusion process.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety legislative requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure, managing expectations to meet deadlines and KPIs.
- Ability to communicate to a high standard through written and verbal means.
- Experience of motivating, training and developing staff.
