Hours: 40 hours 8:30am – 5:00pm
Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent
Job Purpose: The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the efficient and safe running of all warehouse operations, including replenishment, returns, picking, and packing. The role involves the day-to-day management of staff, with a hands-on approach, ensuring smooth workflows, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and upholding high performance standards across all warehouse activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management
- Oversee all warehouse operations.
- Ensure the warehouse is opened and closed securely each day.
- Maintain high standards of site cleanliness and organisation across the warehouse, yard, and car park.
- Stock control.
- Guarantee all customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped on the same day.
- Supervise courier collections to ensure timely and accurate dispatch.
- Manage inbound goods, containers & lorry deliveries, and ensure optimal storage practices.
- Conduct continuous rolling stocktakes and maintain accurate stock levels.
- Lead site maintenance and security activities.
- Lead and manage all warehouse and logistics staff.
- Ensure all staff adhere to site rules and are working efficiently in their designated areas.
- Deliver regular staff performance appraisals.
- Provide coaching and support for team development.
- Support formal HR processes such as 1:1s and disciplinary actions.
- Promote a safe working environment across all operational areas.
- Conduct weekly fire alarm tests (Tuesdays at 10am).
- Ensure all FLT (Forklift Truck) drivers are operating vehicles safely on site.
- Complete and maintain required checklists:
- Daily Fork Truck Checklist
- Weekly Health & Safety Checklist
- Racking and Ladders Inspections
- Consumables Inventory
- Create, document and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for warehouse, returns, goods-in, picking and packing.
- Analyse warehouse capacity and racking availability.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement efficiency measures.
- Lead the sharing and training of best practices across teams.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in warehouse or operations management.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Calm under pressure and able to manage in high-stress situations.
- Proactive, hands-on approach - working alongside the team to ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently through active involvement in daily warehouse functions.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- IT proficient – especially with Excel and report generation.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
- Forklift Truck license preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable Qualities:
- Passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Experience with performance reviews and formal staff development processes.
- Ability to train and upskill team members effectively.
- Health and Safety courses.
