We are recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist SEMH alternative education provider in Newcastle. This role is expected to continue until the end of the academic year and beyond, with opportunities for permanent employment.
The Role
- Supporting students who experience barriers to learning due to SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
- Building positive relationships to engage and motivate young people
- Implementing behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and learning
- Working closely with teaching staff and external professionals to provide tailored support
What We Are Looking For
- Experience working with young people in an education, care, or support setting
- Understanding of mental health needs and neurological conditions
- A resilient nature, positive attitude, and a good sense of humour
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations
While formal experience in a similar role is beneficial, we welcome applicants with transferable skills from youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or similar backgrounds.
