Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is looking for driven and dedicated pilots with a heart for serving others and making a difference in the world to join us in Liberia, Guinea, South Sudan, Bougainville and Papua New Guinea. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified pilot who is passionate about flying light aircraft and eager to make a meaningful impact to join our dedicated organisation and be part of something extraordinary.

Location: International (overseas based on organisational need)

The Role

As a Mission Pilot, you will use your aviation expertise to provide vital access to healthcare, education, economic opportunities, and the Gospel to remote and isolated communities. You will operate a variety of aircraft, ranging from single and multi-engine piston aircraft to turboprops and helicopters, navigating complex terrain and remote conditions with skill, care, and purpose. Working closely with MAF staff, partners and local communities, you will help plan and carry out flights that deliver essential supplies and services.

Additionally, you will:

  • Stay up to date with aviation regulations and our procedures
  • Mentor and train national pilots and mechanics to enhance local capacity and safety
  • Maintain aircraft in accordance with airworthiness and safety standards
  • Support logistics and resource delivery to hard-to-reach locations

About You

To be considered as a Mission Pilot, you will need:

  • An ICAO Commercial Pilot Licence with an instrument rating
  • A Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
  • Approximately 500 to 1000+ flight hours
  • IELTS English proficiency level 6 or equivalent

You will also need knowledge and operational proficiency in:

  • Aircraft performance and loading
  • Aerodynamics
  • Aircraft systems
  • Weather
  • Aircraft instrumentation
  • Crew/Cockpit Resource Management
  • Pilot decision-making
  • Safety and quality systems

Additionally, engineering experience is highly desirable. Due to the nature of our work, which involves regular overseas travel, these positions are open only to UK passport holders who are also UK residents. This is because we are only able to reliably secure the necessary visas for individuals with a UK passport. As this position is for a Mission Pilot in a Christian Organisation, there is an occupational requirement to be a Christian.
