As a Merchandiser, you will manage all key financial Merchandising KPIs across Planning, Trading & Forecasting. A customer-facing role, you will maintain, develop and contribute to the profit plan for a specified area of responsibility and ensure all stakeholders have the right information, at the right time to facilitate right first-time decisions across product, finance and supply planning.

You will take customer data and insights and marry this with sales data, being central to creating opportunities for each customer business plan to achieve their profit potential across national accounts. Working closely with your Customers, Supply Chain, Product and Range, you will ensure the right information is available at the right time to ensure the seamless delivery of product to store when it’s needed.

The merchandising specialist in your customer team, your main responsibilities include:

  • Account planning including sales plans, customer budget and SKU level decision-making activities
  • Evaluating financial factors including assumptions and suitable contingency plans
  • Forecasting across all elements whether total business, account, caption or line level
  • Stock allocation requirements to deliver the customer plan whilst minimising stock exposure
  • Top line trading analysis for forward planning and identifying risks & opportunities
  • Facilitating the optimum range selection process through your analysis and insights
  • Developing strong cross-functional relationships to ensure all interventions/activities are delivered in the most effective & profitable way
  • Driving efficiencies, improved ways of working and increased profit across your customer accounts

Central to the team, you will use your knowledge of the retail landscape, customer objectives and consumer shopper insights to crunch the numbers and make profitable, timely decisions for the short, medium and long-term impact.

  • Previous experience of working in a merchandising role or similar role within a Retail / FMCG business
  • Experience using Tableau would be a significant advantage
  • Excellent Excel, numeric & analytical abilities to identify commercial insights relevant to our audience
  • A confident communicator, able to adjust their approach to varying audiences, marrying strong presentation skills with skilled use of data and insights
  • A people person, taking the time to build strong relationships, working with others to achieve shared objectives
  • Commercial acumen, using knowledge and insights to engage and influence others, keeping profit growth at the core of decision making
  • Organised, with a keen eye for details, with experience of planning and forecasting sales across everyday & seasons
  • A solid awareness of retail, and ideally our category, influences which are factored into decision making to mitigate risks to sales
