Scope of the role:
This is a rewarding, patient-centric role in which you will have responsibility for a range of services and teams in the organisation, utilising your background in the fields of fertility/andrology/embryology/biomedical science.
Responsibilities:
- Acting as the face of the clinic to ensure that services, staff and patient experience are as effective and positive as possible.
- Oversee and coordinate actions and staffing around donor throughput between clinic and other services. Identify and specify resource needs within the clinic such as for equipment, consumables, instrumentation and training needs analysis.
- To that end; develop robust systems and protocols that address patient management and service from an andrology perspective, manage situations not covered by SOPs, and ensure all procedures undertaken are documented in accordance with ISO 9001, HFEA Code of Practice, HCPC regulations and QMS. Act as the Person Responsible onsite in matters relating to the HCPC code of conduct and any related legal or insurance processes.
- Supervise work in the Laboratory, taking part in the rota of duties to ensure full coverage.
- Responsible for overseeing that documentation and interactions with patients follow regulatory requirements, ensuring that donors give informed consent and reporting is accurate for the purpose of statistical analysis.
- Liaison with colleagues, patients and the general public, professional bodies such that regulate processes for andrology and embryology, building effective relationships with external suppliers and attending networking opportunities to promote and expand the organisation's reach in the field.
- Planning, review, execution and reporting of research projects involving andrology and or embryology.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Scientists, supporting and driving some of the recruitment of staff to the clinic, taking part in daily scheduled meetings to discuss staff performance, organise relevant andrology training relative to assisted conception re-registrations, and take an active part in in-the-moment training and coaching opportunities.
Your background and experience:
- Minimum BSc in a Biological/Biomedical discipline, with a current HCPC registration .
- Proven exposure to the assisted conception/fertility space. Interest in providing a quality-driven and patient centric experience.
- Strong and current understanding of HFEA and ISO regulations which encompass the fertility and clinical lab settings.
- Strong skillset in andrology and/or embryology in relation to assisted conception or sperm banking including QC processes.
- Proven management background, ideally of a multidisciplinary workforce; you will enjoy coaching and mentoring more junior staff and are comfortable to spend some of your time at the bench as well as the operational overview.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to take a bigger picture view of overall clinic function, efficiencies and budgets.
