Working for a consumer services scale-up with over 20 million customers, the Lead Backend Engineer will lead the technical direction of the backend and manage a team of talented engineers. The company is continuing to scale internationally, building on the great success they’ve had in the U.K.
The Lead Backend Engineer will be responsible for:
- Owning the design and development of robust, scalable backend services
- Spearheading the technical direction of the backend
- Managing a team of engineers
- Contributing to overarching technology strategy
- Transitioning some legacy code to more modern microservices
The Lead Backend Engineer will have:
- Experience in line management and technical leadership of backend
- Hands on coding experience with PHP and Go / Golang (other languages are a bonus)
- Strong technical understanding of, and having built, API’s
- Good communication skills and stakeholder management
- Could come from a startup / scale-up or corporate background
