Our client is a global leader in high-precision manufacturing for the semiconductor and geological science industries. Recent investment has been made in new production systems to support their future growth, which has resulted in a vacancy for an experienced mechanical design engineer.

Based on the outskirts of Glasgow, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join this market-leading precision materials technology company. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this position will be responsible for:

  • Devising and developing new products and modifying existing designs in partnership with their electrical and electronic engineers
  • Producing accurate detailed design documentation using 3D CAD to allow for manufacturing and assembly, so the product becomes legally compliant
  • Building and testing of prototypes
  • Identifying and evaluating new materials, methods and suppliers
  • Improving product quality
  • Calculation experience, so assessments of design are carried out to ensure the product is safe prior to assembly
  • Providing cross-functional technical support

Ideal Skills and qualifications:

  • Qualified to degree level or similar in a Mechanical design or Product design engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical design role
  • Experience of designing within a high-value, low-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the design of electro-pneumatic and electro-mechanical systems
  • Substantial 3D CAD experience, Solidworks preferred
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Able to work with a cross-functional team
