Our client is a global leader in high-precision manufacturing for the semiconductor and geological science industries. Recent investment has been made in new production systems to support their future growth, which has resulted in a vacancy for an experienced mechanical design engineer.
Based on the outskirts of Glasgow, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join this market-leading precision materials technology company. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this position will be responsible for:
- Devising and developing new products and modifying existing designs in partnership with their electrical and electronic engineers
- Producing accurate detailed design documentation using 3D CAD to allow for manufacturing and assembly, so the product becomes legally compliant
- Building and testing of prototypes
- Identifying and evaluating new materials, methods and suppliers
- Improving product quality
- Calculation experience, so assessments of design are carried out to ensure the product is safe prior to assembly
- Providing cross-functional technical support
Ideal Skills and qualifications:
- Qualified to degree level or similar in a Mechanical design or Product design engineering discipline
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical design role
- Experience of designing within a high-value, low-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience in the design of electro-pneumatic and electro-mechanical systems
- Substantial 3D CAD experience, Solidworks preferred
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Able to work with a cross-functional team
