My client is a specialist organisation that offers exceptional financial planning for medical professionals. Their advisers are committed to excellence and have a deep understanding of the financial matters important to their clients, gained from decades of working with practitioners, senior hospital management and the NHS Pensions Agency. They are widely referred to as the ‘go-to’ company for retirement planning for doctors across the UK. They provide impartial advice whether you work within the NHS, private sector, independent sector or a combination of all three. They are now looking for a Senior Paraplanner to join their Technical Team.

The Senior Paraplanner works closely with the Financial Planner and is core to the advisory process for clients. The Senior Paraplanner provides essential administrative and technical support as required to ensure client advice is accurate and appropriate. In many regards, the Senior Paraplanner is the central function of the business, and works with all areas to ensure the smooth and effective handling of client matters. The role of a Senior Paraplanner is the highest technical post in the firm outside of the Financial Planners and is viewed as a technical expert.

Responsibilities:
  • Support to Financial Planners
  • Carry out technical analysis and calculations, providing recommendations on financial services products.
  • Carry out technical analysis and calculations, providing recommendations on NHS pension strategy.
  • Assist with drafting the full suite of client reports.
  • Attend client meetings with a Financial Planner.
Client Liaison
  • Communicate with clients by phone, email and letter as necessary.
  • Review all necessary paperwork for client meetings.
  • Attend client meetings, providing technical support where needed.
  • Ensure reports are “client-friendly”, written in an accessible and plain English manner.
Third Parties
  • Supervise Client Services in the accurate gathering of all information required for us to complete technical calculations and plan analysis in order to give advice.
  • Instruct investment custodians in a timely and accurate manner retaining oversight until completion.
Internal
  • Ensure client records are up to date and filed correctly in accordance with current Company structure.
  • Follow the quality assurance process to maintain a high standard of work and develop a good relationship with the Risk and Governance team.
  • Liaise with Client Services regularly, ensuring that they follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Maintain and provide management information as required.
Management & Mentoring
  • Act as a role model for Paraplanners and Financial Planning Administrators.
  • Provide guidance, advice and mentoring for Paraplanners and Financial Planning Administrators as required.
  • Deliver formal training.
Experience
  • Chartered status (or very close to achieving).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a paraplanning capacity as a minimum.
  • Good academic qualifications in an analytical discipline.
