A brand new and exciting opportunity for an Automation Engineer / Control Engineer / Control Systems Engineer / Controls Software Engineer has arisen at a world-renowned multinational R&D organisation. You will be a key member of the engineering team as they grow and develop their brand-new state-of-the-art pilot plant / R&D facility / CDMO pharmaceutical, chemical, and materials manufacturing unit in Watford. As the Controls and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, installing, startup and managing and/or maintaining new process equipment and software on PLC, HMI and SCADA systems. You will be developing detailed specification, engineering documents, SOP and operating standards. You will also be responsible for the ownership and administration of process control automation in a GMP regulated manufacturing setting. You’ll be working closely with scientists, software engineers, and mechanical engineers – this is an exciting opportunity to use your engineering skills across a range of disciplines! Automation Engineer / Control Engineer / Control Systems Engineer Requirements: Degree educated in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Instrumentation, Robotics, Automation, Biotech Engineering, etc Recent and relevant experience working as an Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer, Systems Engineering within an automation manufacturing environment. Strong control system automation background focused specifically on design, installation, programming and validation of automated processes. Strong programming skills for PLC, HMI and SCADA systems: Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc. Knowledge of Rockwell Automation Factory Talk & ControlLogix very beneficial. Working knowledge of building automation systems, electronic batch records, PLC, OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet technologies, as well as HVAC, purified water systems (RO, WFI). Experience in process control engineering and troubleshooting with unit operations such as media, harvest, bioreactors, chromatography, vial filtration, and ultrafiltration/diafiltration beneficial. Experience within pharmaceutical / biotech production facilities beneficial. Job Location: Watford Salary: £65k – £75k + excellent benefits and career progression opportunities.
