Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, are currently seeking an Operational Assistant to join their team. This is a full time permanent position, based in Norwich.

Hours: Basic hours 9:00am — 6:00pm Mon — Fri. Due to seasonal variations within the business these hours are regularly extended in the Winter, or may be reduced in the Summer.

Job Purpose:

  • Support daily operations, logistics, risk assessments, and compliance with ISO standards within our team.
  • The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining operational efficiency, managing inventory, ensuring quality control, and supporting compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a structured approach to risk management and process improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Understanding of ISO standards, risk assessment methodologies, and quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop control measures.
  • Ability to manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
  • Proactive approach to identifying operational risks and process inefficiencies.
  • Experience in logistics, quality control, or operational support is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and documentation management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages - particularly Excel, Word, Internet and email.
  • Able to understand basic business finance concepts and calculations.
  • Must be a competent writer of business emails.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or other relevant quality and safety standards.
  • Background in operations, logistics, risk assessment, or quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with risk management tools and safety reporting systems.

Key Qualities:

  • A methodical and logical approach to work with a technical aptitude and good problem solving ability.
  • Must have clean or near clean driving license.
  • Mature approach, credible, and comfortable in dealing with colleagues, suppliers and customers alike.
  • Good communication skills, ensuring effective communication between team members and leadership.
  • Well presented with an understanding of good business practices and ethics.
  • Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability.
  • Able to commute reliably to office base.
  • Must have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to work extended hours on occasions when required.

HOLIDAYS: 32 days per annum, including 8 days for public holidays, 3 or 4 days to be taken over Christmas shut-down.
